I was there (perhaps not a this show) and that is definitely Ronnie. I went to all the shows that day. Between shows, saw the three Ronettes having a meal down the block in a diner. I went and sat right across from them. 😄 Fond memories.

The Chiffons opened for the Beatles at the Washington Coliseum in Washington, D.C. on February 11, 1964 at their first public U.S. concert. The Beatles performance waws filmed that day and you can see footage of that on RUclips. Does anyone know if the Chiffons' performance was also filmed that day? Or is there an audio recording at least? Or a setlist?

I was a 6 year old Boston kid when the Beatles blasted over the radio with hit after hit songs, it's hard to explain the radio back then, no images, your imagination was stimulated by the songs, even now when I hear, " I wanna hold your hand " it gives me chills I felt back then.

Brilliant! Coincidentally, Judee Sill’s name came up earlier today for me. I read an interview with Dykeritz, the awesome composer/multi-instrumentalist, who said he likes anything by her. Same here. (I’m guessing most people have no idea who she was.)

A friendly amendment, if I may: 'Scotch and Soda' was NOT written by Dave Guard or by any other member of the Kingston Trio. The song was given to Guard by a Mr. and Mrs. Seaver, the parents of his girlfriend at the time. The Seavers had heard the song played by a pianist in a bar while on their honeymoon in Arizona in 1932. Liking what they heard, they asked the pianist to write down the lyrics for them, which he did. However, the pianist did not sign the lyrics and the Seavers did not know his name. Before recording the song, the Kingston Trio initiated an extensive search for the author so as not to incur penalties for violating copywrite laws. Their search proved fruitless. In order to secure royalties on the song, Guard then decided to list himself as the originator of the song. To this day, no one knows who actually wrote it.

Greatest rock shows ever. I've been to the Christmas show in 1963. Also met many of the performers. My friend and I convinced the mgr. of the bar connected to the theater where performers took breaks that we were part of the show and he let us in to save us from the 100's of screaming fans on the outside of the bar in the street. That's where we met the performers. Pattie LaBelle, Jackie Wilson, the Ronettes.
